3 Reasons You Need To Try A Dog Robe

Dog drying coats or towels can make a massive difference to all pet parents, particularly to those who have dogs that love the water, or enjoy getting muddy often. Our dog drying robes are simple to fit, allow for quick drying, and are much more effective than any towel. In this article, we will be looking at the three top benefits of getting your pooch a dog-drying robe this season.

  1. The All-Season Must Have!

For all our pups that love the water, whether that be a dip in the sea or a muddy walk, a dog drying robe is a must! After getting soaked through, your dog may begin to feel the cold. We can’t blame them - nobody likes feeling uncomfortable! Our dog-drying robes are made from the softest 100% cotton. After putting your dog in one, you will notice that any moisture is wicked away and the warm air and body heat is trapped - perfect for keeping your four-legged friend warm after going swimming, a bath, or a wet walk.

Not to mention, that prolonged coldness in dogs could lead to illness.  Did you know that long-term exposure to any cold, or particularly wet weather can actually end in inflammation of your dog's respiratory tract, and possibly even pneumonia? Keeping your pup warm will not only leave them with a bounce in their step but also ensure that they stay healthy.

Some dogs don’t enjoy the hairdryer, as it can leave them feeling stressed and even frightened. A dog robe is a great way to negate this problem, as well as all the potential hair matting that vigorous towel drying could cause.  A dog drying robe is more practical for you, the owner, and much more enjoyable for your pooch too.

After coming in contact with water, your dog's fur will stay wet for a long period of time, meaning that they are likely to get cold, but what about the warmer months? For summer, a dog-drying robe can also come in handy. You can wet the cotton fabric, and once placed on your pup, it will help keep them cool. -

2. Protecting Your Home

We all know it - the dreaded shake-off! Once your dog gets wet, they tend to do the classic ‘shake-off’. This is due to their fur being dense and able to trap a lot of water. This standard move from our dogs is a way to remove any excess liquid from their coats. You may also notice that they rub themselves against your furniture, or maybe even your carpets. Whilst this can be entertaining to watch, it’s not the best when it comes to keeping our house clean and order-free - and let’s face it, nobody likes the scent of a wet dog.

Our extremely absorbent doggy robes protect your home and other surfaces from the dread shake-off.  As well as being a barrier between your dog, and your household furnishings, our dog drying towels also allow for your vehicle to be protected. They are an easy addition to your regular walking routine, as you can throw them in your car, and once you’ve returned from your stroll, your dog is able to put one on and snuggle down on the way home.

3. When Practicality Meets Style

Here at Harbour Hounds, we truly understand what dogs need. Our dog drying robes have been created to fit your pup, as well as offer them flexibility.

Our robes are both practical and stylish. We have four colours in our classic stripe collection, as well as a few other designs in our Limited Edition range, which whilst all looking trendy, also offer that level of comfort that your dog desires.

One of our main design elements is our tail holes. Instead of using the typical leg straps, we have opted for a space for your dog's tail. This allows for a better, closer fit to the dog’s body and prevents the coats from slipping off. In addition, we have moved away from using Velcro or plastic clips. Our over-the-head design was created to fully cover the dog’s neck and chest, keeping the coat close to their bodies to trap in that all-important heat.

As well as our robes being all one piece, we also use no harmful dyes in our products meaning that you can still get your hands on a stylish robe, without having to worry about it being bad for the environment. That’s right - Harbour Hounds are Oeko-tex certified! This means hazardous substances, such as heavy metals, toxic dyes, and carcinogens, are not used in the manufacture of our products. All good news for our planet!
